End of 2024, LRT Jakarta Velodrome - Manggarai Route Completed

The LRT Jakarta development project Phase 1B for Velodrome-Manggarai route is targeted to be completed by the end of 2024.

The first work target starts in the first half of 2023

It is expected to facilitate people's mobility and encourage the integration of public transportation modes in Jakarta such as KAI Commuter Line and MRT Jakarta.

PT Propertindo (Jakpro) Corporate Secretary Vice President, Syahrial Syarif said it is in line with the process of preparing Manggarai Train Station as a central station that becomes a confluence of various modes of public transportation.

He detailed that the distance of the Phase 1B route is 6.4 kilometers long with five stations targeted to carry 180,162 passengers, or a minimum of 80,000 to 100,000 passengers per day.

"The first work target starts in the first half of 2023," he expressed, Saturday (2/11).

He explained that PT Jakpro together with Jakarta Transportation Agency (Dishub) and related agencies and Transportation Ministry (Kemenhub) continue to coordinate efforts to alleviate congestion by promoting public transportation in Jakarta through the availability of many choices of public transportation modes.

"The ministry hopes the efforts made by Jakarta can be an example for other cities," he explained.

He went on to say that the LRT Jakarta Phase 1B construction is also classified as green or low-carbon and environmentally friendly transportation. The operational features of the LRT Jakarta in Phase 1A of Velodrome - Kelapa Gading route have now been improved, thus all members of the public can use them comfortably.

"For instance, there is a bike ramp on the access stairs, a wide payment gate, and a train corridor that can accommodate folding bikes, as well as non-folding bicycles, thus cyclists remain comfortable using public transportation," he explained.

He explained that it could not be separated from the company's commitment to prompt the use of environmentally friendly vehicles in urban communities, as well as the Jakarta Provincial Government's commitment to achieve zero emissions by 2050.

The project also fully supports for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). This support is in the form of providing business premises that can be used by creative entrepreneurs.

It was also in line with one of the Jakarta Government's programs, namely Jakpreneur, a program aimed at increasing the wheels of the people's economy.

Another advantage possessed by LRT Jakarta is integrated with the Jakarta International Velodrome (JIV), Rawamangun, East Jakarta.

"JIV is one of the international standard bicycle racing arenas, which also has various sports facilities that can be enjoyed by the whole community," he added.

He added everything related to the advantages of LRT Jakarta as well as the commitment of Jakpro, Jakarta Government and Transportation Ministry were expected to continue the positive trend of increasing public transportation users. Currently, public transportation users reach approximately 1 million users per day.

"The Jakarta Government is targeting 60 percent of Jakartans will use public transportation by 2030," he stated.
