Council Supports Heru's Decisive Steps against Building Violators

The Jakarta Legislative Council (DPRD) supports Jakarta Acting Governor, Heru Budi Hartono, who has instructed related officials to take strict action against violations of building permits (IMB) for several shophouses in Pluit area, Penjaringan, North Jakarta.

Jakarta Gobernment must act decisively,

Jakarta DPRD Commission D Member, Hardiyanto Kenneth said if the buidings were proven standing on the water channel, they would be torn down.

"There should be no tolerance because it has a negative impact as a whole. Channel and roadside that switch functions do not function optimally, causing losses for many people, namely inundation and congestion," he expressed, Thursday (5/18).

He stated the legislative supports the Acting Governor's step who has instructed his staff to investigate dozens of shop buildings in Pluit area that control the channel and roadside.

"Jakarta Gobernment must act decisively," he expressed.

He explained the Bylaw number 8/2007 on Public Order and number 16/2021 on Regulations for Implementing Law number 28/2002 concerning Buildings is the legal basis for the Jakarta Provincial Government to carry out mapping and sweeps in other areas to take firm action against building violations.

"We also invite entrepreneurs to comply with the applicable building permit rules in order to not to harm the public interest," he stated.
