Karya Island TPU Undergoes Arrangement for Better View

The Seribu Islands Regency Technical Work Unit (UKT) 2 is currently carrying out the arrangement and greening of the Karya Island Public Cemetery (TPU), Panggang Island, North Seribu Islands.

Seribu Islands Regency UKT 2 Head, Sofyan said the arrangement is carried out in a bid to improve the quality of the cemetery to make it more beautiful, comfortable, and give a good impression to pilgrims.

"This is a routine agenda every year," he expressed, Thursday (7/13).

He explained that the cemetery arrangement with an area of approximately 2,000 square meters includes reforestation, clearing the burial grounds, and uniforming the shape of the graves. As planned, grass blocks would also be installed between the graves.

"Our tomb shape is the same. Everything is planted with grass. We keep it clean and make it brighter, thus pilgrims are comfortable," he exclaimed.

He added there are about 2,500 graves in the cemetery. The arrangement involving nine personnel is targeted to be completed in December 2023.

After being arranged, residents are prohibited from erecting, installing, placing, hanging any object over the grave plot.

"We want the cemetery area to be able to play like a park," he stated.
