Floating Library and Clinic on Untung Jawa Gets Appreciation by Locals

Residents living in Untung Jawa Island Urban Village, South Seribu Islands, appreciated the existence of a floating library and clinic initiated by the National Police (Polri)'s Security Maintenance Agency (Baharkam).

According to Ade Slamet, Vice Head of Seribu Islands Sub-district, this floating library has an important role in supporting literacy-based government programs, as well as increasing students' and coastal residents' interest in reading. Likewise with the floating clinic that can be used for emergencies.

"This floating library and clinic is very useful for residents," he expressed, Wednesday (7/26).

At the same time, Baharkam Polri also inaugurated the RW Police for the coastal area at the Parekraf Sub-agency Meeting building, Untung Jawa Island.

"I welcome and appreciate this inauguration event, as it can provide comfort and security for residents," he expressed.

Untung Jawa Island Youth Leader, Achmad Syahril appreciated and was proud that the government and police have played an active role in the development of his area.

"As a resident, we're ready to work together with the government and the National Police," he admitted.

National Police Kabaharkam, Com. Gen. Pol. Mohammad Fadil Imran explained the RW Police inauguration in the coastal area, floating clinic and library was not only in Seribu Islands, but carried out simultaneously throughout Indonesia.

He went on to say that the RW Police program was formed to improve the intensity of communication between law enforcement and local residents, as well as prevent potential crimes that might occur at any time.

He added floating library and clinic would visit all residential islands in Seribu Islands.

"I promise to frequently monitor the RW police and the floating library," he concluded.
