The West Jakarta Parks and City Forest (Tamhut) Sub-agency is about to soon elevate the plots for Christian graves in the Tegal Alur Public Cemetery (TPU), Jalan Benda Raya, Kamal Urban Village, Kalideres Sub-district.

This is done because the land is in a low position

West Jakarta Tamhut Sub-agency Head, Romy Sidharta expressed the land elevation would be focused on Block AA II Christian Units, such as blad 74, 86, 84, 87, and 91 which are located close to the Sedyatmo Toll Road.

"It is conducted on a 8,400-square-meter land. This is done because the land is in a low position so it is prone to flooding during rainy season," he expressed, Monday (8/7).

It will be executed in the forthcoming September 2023. It would be started by dredging the land up to one meter.

Thus far, it is still under the stage of administration collecting data.

Before being elevated, all the gravestones would be lifted and then each grave would be marked. After being exalted, each grave was re-arranged, which was then re-installed.

"Hopefully, this elevation can anticipate inundation when it rains. It is done to anticipate damage," he hoped.
