Dinkes Calls for Rotavirus Immunization for Newborns

The Jakarta Health Agency (Dinkes) calls on all children aged two months who were born starting on May 16, 2023 in Jakarta to receive Rotavirus immunization in a bid to reduce morbidity and mortality from diarrheal diseases.

Diarrhea is mainly caused by rotavirus

Jakarta Dinkes Acting Head, Ani Ruspitawati revealed diarrhea is a disease that is still a health problem in the world and in Indonesia and is the second largest contributor to death after pneumonia in infants and toddlers.

"Diarrhea is mainly caused by rotavirus. In Jakarta, the morbidity rate due to diarrhea in toddlers in 2022 is 51,177 cases. To overcome diarrhea morbidity, one of which is immunization efforts," she expressed, on the sidelines of Rotavirus Immunization Announcement at Garuda Cipayung RPTRA, East Jakarta, Wednesday (8/16).

Rotavirus Immunization in North Jakarta Targets 15,478 Toddlers

Rotavirus Week Kick Off is based on a Letter from Disease Prevention and Control Director General No. IM.02.02/C/3052/2023 on Implementation of National Rotavirus (RV) Immunization and Health Ministry's Decree No. Hk.01.07/Menkes/1139/2022 on Rotavirus Immunization with a target of babies aged 2, 3, and 4 months, starting with the target of babies born from May 16, 2023.

Her party synergized with the related SKPD to participate in going down to the community and explaining to all parents that this immunization is good, safe, and very necessary.

"We ask integrated health service posts (Posyandu), health centers, hospitals and all health facilities to carry out Rotavirus immunization," she explained.

Previously, this immunization at Garuda RPTRA was marked by the drop of rotavirus immunization by People's Welfare Assistant, Jakarta TP PKK Chairwoman, Jakarta People's Welfare Assistant, Jakarta Health Agency Acting Head, East Jakarta Mayor and TP PKK Chairwoman.

As for the information, there are several services provided, starting from integrated prime posyandu, PTM Posbindu, Covid-19 vaccination, RMHC immunization mobile, SDIDTK competition, Giving Prizes for three Toddlers Posyandu and Talkshow themed Important and Safe Rotavirus Immunization at Health Centers.
