The Jakarta Health Agency (Dinkes) announced that the public should be vigilant with increasing cases of coughs, colds, upper respiratory tract infections (ARI), and pneumonia.

Hence, they are urged to wear masks when doing activities outside the home to prevent getting sick.

Residents were also urged to prevent illness by maintaining good immunity through implementing a CERDIK (smart) and CERIA (cheerful) healthy lifestyle every day, as well as completing child immunizations immediately.
She explained that the prevention of complications and death can be done by means of early detection and treatment of ARI, pneumonia, bronchitis, COPD, asthma, and allergies.
"Especially in comorbid and high-risk groups, namely infants, toddlers, pregnant women, elderly, severe comorbidities, people with immunodeficiency or low immune status," she explained.
She added residents are faced with transitional conditions but also unpredictable weather due to extreme weather factors, so it is important to maintain good immunity.
"Due to the increased humidity in transition conditions, various germs such as viruses and bacteria easily enter the body. Also, during transition, immunity decreases due to stress, fatigue, lack of sleep, the effects of traffic jams, and so on," she continued.

• Routine health checks: aged 15 and over can chexck up non-communicable disease for free at the nearest health center/posbindu once every 6-12 months
• Avoid cigarette smoke: active and passive smoking are equally dangerous
