Jakarta Plants 65,819 Trees until July 2023

The Jakarta Parks and City Forest Agency (Distamhut) recorded that 4,172,361 ornamental plants and 65,819 trees had been planted during the period October 2022 to July 2023.

By planting tens of thousands of trees and plants, it will create a cooler and more beautiful Jakarta city in the future

Jakarta Distamhut Head, Bayu Meghantara stated as many as 55,345 shade and productive trees as well as 203,973 ornamental and toga plants were planted by the five administrative municipalities in the period April to July 2023.

"While the rest was planted by the agency," he expressed, Monday (8/22).

Then his agency had also built green open spaces in 23 locations this year and did the RTH arrangement in 44 locations.

Besides being a source of oxygen for residents' lives, trees also function as shade and pollutant absorbers.

"By planting tens of thousands of trees and plants, it will create a cooler and more beautiful Jakarta city in the future," he added.

He explained the Jakarta Provincial Government is committed to creating a greener city of Jakarta. His agency is targeting more than 10,000 trees to be planted, especially in areas that have not been planted or have been affected by infrastructure development so far.

"Tree planting is a form and realization of environmental sustainability in Jakarta sustainably," he stated.
