Acting Governor and Forkopimda Plant 125 Trees in Mookervaart River

In line with the Jakarta Provincial Government's program to green the city, the Indonesian National Police initiated the program of "Polri Lestarikan Negeri, Penghijauan Sejak Dini" (National Police Preservation, Greening Early on).

Today we continue the tree planting

Jakarta Acting Governor, Heru Budi Hartono together with other members of Jakarta Regional Leadership Communication Forum (Forkopimda), namely Polda Metro Jaya Chief, Insp. Gen. Pol. Karyoto; Jakarta High Prosecutor's Office (Kajati) Chief, Reda Manthovani; and Pangdam Jaya Maj. Gen. Mohamad Hasan, planted hundreds of trees on the Mookervaart Riverbank, Kalideres, West Jakarta, Wednesday (8/22).

According to him, the event was conducted in stages by the Police throughout Indonesia in a bid to expand greenery in various locations. It was also aimed to celebrate the Indonesia Independence Day's 78th Anniversary.

Jakarta Plants 65,819 Trees until July 2023

"Today we continue the tree planting initiated by the Police chiefs in NTT, NTB, and throughout Indonesia. And we are in Daan Mogot, West Jakarta, they are planting trees to intensify greenery in Jakarta with Pangdam and Kajati," he expressed, in the Jakarta Government's press release.

He added the effort was made at the same time to move residents to do the same thing, thus more people could feel the benefits.

"There are approximately 125 trees planted here. Elsewhere, the Kapolda will continue the same action. This effort also received support from Babinsa and Bhabinkamtibnas to mobilize residents, to inspire people from all walks of life to immediately plant trees to make Jakarta greener," he furthered.

Polda Metro Jaya Chief, Gen. Pol. Karyoto explained tree planting is the spirit of the National Police for development throughout Indonesia. It is also a form of Police's concern for the environment, which must be cared for and preserved.

"This is one of the efforts to make Jakarta greener and healthier. Today, 100,000 trees were also distributed and the trees were fruit trees distributed by our colleagues of Babinsa and Bhabinkamtibmas, as well as government officials to residents to plant the trees," he added.

Besides greening, he hoped that planting fruit trees could also improve the economic sector of the people thanks to harvesting fruit.

"But what is clear is that this spirit is not only for us, but for all of people. Use the surrounding land for planting trees. Well it might be a strengthening tree, like beside this, there is a river which means amplifier. If it is possible, we can plant trees that have an economic impact, then go ahead," he explained.
