BBPOM - KPID Expands Cooperation in Monitoring Broadcasts on Drugs and Food

The POM Center in Jakarta and the Jakarta Branch Regional Indonesian Broadcasting Commission (KPID) have extended cooperation in monitoring broadcast content for advertisements, publications, and promotions of medicine and food at broadcasting institutions.

It also includes communication, information, and education (KIE) activities

It was marked by the signing of the Renewal Cooperation Agreement (PKS) by the Head of the POM Center in Jakarta and the head of Jakarta KPID.

Jakarta POM Center Head, Sofiyani Candrawati Anwar said the collaboration was made to strengthen the effectiveness of drug and food control through synergy between the central and regional governments.

She appreciated the Jakarta KPID for its support in strengthening drug and food supervision through the cooperation that has been made so far. It aimed at boosting the effectiveness and efficiency of monitoring news broadcasts, promotions, and advertisements for medicines and food.

"In its execution, apart from being related to the results of monitoring broadcast content in the field of medicine and food, it also includes communication, information, and education (KIE) activities, development of human resource competencies, and exchange of information data," she expressed, Wednesday (9/13).

Jakarta KPID Chairman, Puji Hartoyo said that through this collaboration, synergistic coordination was built in carrying out supervision and implementing effective follow-up to the results of supervision.

His party follows up on recommendations resulting from supervision regarding the content of broadcasts in the field of medicine and food, including imposing sanctions for violations of news broadcasts, promotions, and advertisements for medicines and food.

Hopefully, this cooperation would further strengthen collaboration, and synergy, as well as make drug and food supervision more effective.

"The programs and activities implemented are aimed to improve public awareness and concern to be active and always critical of every content of news broadcasts, promotions, and advertisements for medicines and food," he stated.
