BBPOM - Seribu Islands Agree to Synergize Supervision

The Seribu Islands Regency administration together with the Center for Drug and Food Control (BBPOM) in Jakarta, agreed to strengthen the synergy of food product safety supervision.

Education to the public will also have an impact on stunting management

Seribu Islands Regency Deputy Regent, Muhammad Fadjar Churniawan said synergy like this is needed, thus people are educated about food products that are safe, healthy, and nutritious.

The education carried out was not only to overcome the distribution of food and drugs exposed to substances hazardous to health, it was expected to overcome the stunting problem in Seribu Islands.

"Hopefully, education to the public will also have an impact on stunting management," he stated in a written statement received by beritajakarta.id, Wednesday (8/9).

Jakarta BBPOM Head, Sofiyani Chandrawati Anwar added her party had made efforts to supervise and empower the community regarding medicine and food in Seribu Islands.

Her party recommended several steps to improve the effectiveness of drug and food control in Seribu Islands. Among other things, optimizing the coordination and synergy of drug and food control.

"The role of the community that has participated in community empowerment activities also needs to be optimized," she concluded.

She explained the communities referred to included housewives, fast-food IRTP food entrepreneurs and food retailers. Later, they were expected to be able to implement and disseminate good food safety practices in their respective communities.

"We're ready to work together to provide assistance and coaching to create competitive MSMEs, as well as promoting food products typical of Seribu Islands region," she stated.
