The unfortunate fate befall Atih (38) and her son Fahri (12). They were drowned in Angke river, near the floodgates Polor dam RT 08/01, Kembangan Urban Village, West Jakarta, Tuesday (3/24).

Seeing her son fall into the river, the woman then jump in for saving her son's life

Based on the information, around 6 AM, when she was riding her motorbike Honda beat B 3276 BHC crossed Polor floodgates bridge, her motorbike slipped as the road was slippery and it made her son fell into the river.

"Seeing her son fall into the river, the woman then jump in for saving her son's life. However, the swift flowing water makes both of them swept away," said one of witnesses, Sakih (48).

The joint search and rescue (SAR) team along with Kembangan Metro sector police officers conducted the search. Around 7 AM, the officers finally succeeded found Fahri's body about 100 meters from drowned location. Then the victim was carried to funeral home in Parut Koret Village RT 08/01, Kembangan Selatan Urban Village. 

"We're still searching for Fahri's Mother. We suspect that she has already swept away," said Head of Kembangan Metro Sector Police, Kompol Sukatma.
