Division Head of Security and Safety for City Police Traffic Directorate, Adj. Sr. Cmr. Irvan Satya revealed the congestion is not caused by vehicle volume. “But it caused by the lack of lane and can be seen in several points. That's why, congestion cannot be avoided,” he explained, Friday (3/27).

MRT Project, Alternatives Road Prepared to Prevent Congestion

He acknowledged, at first before, the project that initiated by City Police Traffic Unit and 8 contractors  Polda Metro Jaya along with 8 contractors had held a meeting. On that occasion, they agreed not to use parts of lane. But if there is equipment installation, there will be additional lane and will no reduction. "I was tricked by them, we got a report from Ciledug and South Jakarta, they only used one lane, instead of adding lane for the construction," he expressed.

On that basis, he continued, he will summon 8 contractors and departments related to the violation. "We had summoned them. At that time, I told them that I was tricked due to the first plan cannot run smoothly. But they claimed the lane cannot be widened," he disclosed.

Temporarily, a way to anticipate congestion is only by installing a socialization banner for motorists. "At the end, they just installed a socialization banner, and we sent personnel in the field. The motorists should find alternative way," he disclosed.
