MRT Project, Alternatives Road Prepared to Prevent Congestion

The mass rapid transit (MRT) project is now entering the large-scale construction stage or physical development in Fatmawati area, Panglima Polim, and Blok M. The work will use most of the road that passed by MRT line and could cause severe congestion in the area.

We will maximize the use of alternative roads when the work i s in progress

To prevent that, South Jakarta Metro Traffic Police will prepare two alternative roads to avoid congestion in Jalan Fatmawati Raya.

"We will maximize the use of alternative roads when the work is in progress," explained South Jakarta Metro traffic Police Head, AKBP Timin S, Tuesday (24/3).

MRT Subway Drilling Starts in August

He explained, to accommodate vehicles from Lebak Bulus and Cilandak direction that want to go north or to Blok M, his side will provide two alternative roads at the west side and east side of Jalan Fatmawati Raya. "The vehicle from Lebak Bulus could use Jalan Metro Pondok Indah, and the vehicle from east side can pass through Jalan Pangeran Antasari," he explained.

After passing Jalan Metro Pondok Indah, the vehicle can go through Radio Dalam and Jalan Arteri in Pondok Indah, While on Jalan Pangeran Antasari, the vehicles that want to go to Senayan could pass through Non Toll Flyover (JLNT) Antasari.

However, Timin asked the MRT contractor to always coordinate about the development process because there are several damaged points on the alternative roads that should be informed to prevent accident.

"For example, the damaged road in way down towards JLNT Antasari from TB Simatupang. The puddles around 30-50 centimeters often appeared after rain," he said.
