The Jakarta administration, synergized with the Buddhist Tzu Chi Foundation in arranging settlements to make them suitable for habitation by 11 families in Tanah Tinggi Urban Village, Johar Baru Sub-district, Central Jakarta, Thursday (11/23).
This is the desire of the people
The settlement renovation is planned as a 'Rumah Sehat' (Healthy House) which consists of several indicators, such as having sufficient lighting, having good air circulation, having an adequate sanitation system, and having clean water available.
"So, there are 11 families who have uninhabitable houses and we will repair them. The area of each residence, which is 18 square meters, will be built with four floors. Each unit has a toilet, a laundry room, and a livable room. After it is done, residents can take care of it," expressed Jakarta Acting Governor, Heru Budi Hartono.
Heru: Settlement Arrangement Program Supports Public HealthHe also appreciated the cooperation of residents, stakeholders, and the central government who together realized the residential renovation plan. Even, the Jakarta Regional Office of the National Land Agency (BPN) would also assist in agrarian matters, thus residents could get rights in land ownership.
"This is the desire of the people, as there is a desire for change to improve a decent standard of living. I also thank the BPN Regional Office for helping with the strata title system (a form of ownership designed for multi-level block apartments and horizontal subdivisions), each of whom has the same rights," he added.
Further, residents whose homes were being renovated would be given temporary housing until the construction was completed. The construction process is estimated to take seven months. It was done as a form of government attention to residents since construction began, thus they would continue to have housing.
"They were given rent for a while until it was finished in about seven months. They understood and that was their wish too," he concluded.
As for the information, the building to be renovated covers an area of 222 square meters and carries the concept of a four-story flat. In this residence, facilities will also be provided to support residents' activities, such as a children's playground, green open space (RTH), social space, and space for business.
Besides the Acting Governor, it was also attended by Jakarta Public Housing and Settlement Agency Head, Retno Sulistyaningrum; Jakarta Social Agency (Dinsos) Head, Premi Lasari; Central Jakarta Deputy Mayor, Chaidir; and Jakarta BPN Regional Office Head, Wartomo.
