The Jakarta Transportation Agency (Dishub) has prepared main and supporting terminals to serve people who will travel during Christmas and New Year holidays this year.

Hopefully, all bus crew will be ready to operate

The main terminals provided are Kampung Rambutan, Kalideres, Tanjung Priok, and Pulogebang. Meanwhile, the backup terminals are Muara Angke, Lebak Bulus, Rawamangun, and Grogol.

Jakarta Dishub Head, Syafrin Liputo said his party had coordinated intensively with BNN, TNI/police, and Jakarta Health Agency to hold health checks for bus crew and ensure they were drug-free.

"Hopefully, all bus crew will be ready to operate and have no problems in terms of the health of drivers and bus crew who consume drugs," he expressed, Friday (12/15).

He explained the Dishub also synergized with the Transportation Ministry and bus operators for ramp check, which is checking and inspecting the safety aspects of all buses operating during the Christmas transportation period, namely December 19, 2023 to January 2, 2024.

Based on the results of the inspection of the physical components on the AKAP bus, minor scale operational inadequacies were still found.

"Currently, we have found quite a lot that does not meet the requirements and we hope that all of them will make improvements, especially in terms of braking, electricity, and wipers. There is still time before the Christmas and New Year transportation period for bus operators to undergo repairs, hope everything will be ready to operate," he stressed.

He also asked the bus PO to prepare a spare bus to anticipate a shortage of buses during the Christmas and New year holidays.

"Principally, they are ready to support and to provide backup for services at that time," he stressed.

Road Transport Management Unit (UPTAJ) Head, Syamsul Mirwan uttered the peak of the homecoming flow is predicted to occur on December 22, 2023. The backup terminal is a mitigation measure to solve the density of prospective passengers who will travel.

He added integrated command posts were starting to be put on standby at departure terminals in collaboration with the Health Agency, TNI/police, and BNN.

This post would provide health condition checks for travelers including AKAP bus crew. Even, drug tests for bus crew would also be intensified.

"Then, the integrated post will continue to check the roadworthiness test of buses to ensure the safety of passengers and public transportation vehicles is top notch. We keep strengthening coordination to provide the maximum possible service for prospective passengers during Christmas and New Year holidays," he stated.
