Stunted Toddlers on Sabira Island Get Nutritious PMT Aid

Although it is the outermost area of Jakarta, the Jakarta Provincial Government still pays great attention to residents living on Sabira Island, Harapan Island Urban Village, North Seribu Islands Sub-district, Seribu Islands. One of them is related to child growth and development.

Through Harapan Island Urban Village, toddlers with indications of stunting on Sabira Island received nutritious supplementary food (PMT).

Harapan Island Urban Village Head, Muhammad Yusuf said the PMT package aid was distributed door to door as a form of optimal service to residents.

Seribu Island Pursue Zero Stunting This Year

"We also hold direct monitoring of the growth and development of toddlers with indications of stunting by involving medical personnel from the North Seribu Islands Sub-district Health Center, sub-district levels, PKK cadres, and integrated health post (Posyandu)," he expressed, Thursday (1/11).

He explained the aid distribution is to follow up on directions from Jakarta Acting Governor, Heru Budi Hartono and Seribu Islands Regent, Junaedi, to make the Seribu Islands region zero from stunting cases this year.

"Thank God, the number of toddlers indicated to be stunted on Sabira Island has decreased. Last November, there were five toddlers and currently three remain," he explained.

He added the cumulative number of toddlers indicated as stunting in Harapan Island Sub-district had also decreased, from 22 to 17 toddlers.

"PMT, which consists of milk, eggs, fruit, vegetables, and snacks for children, as well as basic food packages, really helps fulfill nutrition and nutrition consumption for toddlers," he added.

RW 03 Chairman, Harapan Island Urban Village, Ali Kurniawan, appreciated the sub-district officials who continue to pay attention to their residents.

"The growth and development and health of toddlers with indications of stunting are always monitored," he stated.
