S. Jakarta Mayor Inaugurated Waste Bank

South Jakarta Administration keep trying to handle waste volume that keep growing. One of them is by constructing waste bank.

The operation of waste bank is an anticipation to handle waste from its source

South Jakarta Mayor, Syamsuddin Noor, inaugurated the operation of waste bank which is located beside of South Jakarta Mayor office, Jalan Prapanca Raya, Kebayoran Baru, Thursday (4/2). 

Its existence is expected could be a model to citizens, especially the civil servants (PNS) under South Jakarta government to raise the quality of environment cleanliness and change the paradigm of waste. "The operation of waste bank is an anticipation to handle waste from its source," he said. 

North Jakarta Targeted to Build 60 Waste Banks

According to him, the inner security officers (pamdal), cleaning service, and citizens are appealed to throw dry waste to the waste bank. 

One kilogram plastic wastes costs Rp 3,000, papers or newspapers Rp 1,200, mineral water bottles Rp 4,000 and also aluminum costs Rp 9,000 per kg. 

Head of South Jakarta Environmental Agency, Evita DS added, For while, waste bank of South Jakarta Mayor is still not using machine. For wastes that cannot be processed eventually it will be transported to Waste Management Site (TPS). 

"The waste bank can receive around 300 kilograms wastes," he disclosed.
