Collapsed Channel in Baru Urban Village Being Repaired

The collapsed water channel located in the residential area of Jalan H. Remaih, RT 02/07, Baru Urban Village, Pasar Rebo, East Jakarta, started to be repaired. Repairs involved 15 joint personnel from the Water Resources Task Force (SDA) and PPSU, since Monday (1/15).

The U-ditch that we installed is much sturdier than before

Pasar Rebo Sub-district SDA Executing Unit Head, Nana Juhana said the channel was collapsed last Wednesday (1/10). It was being repaired using a U-ditch concrete measuring 40 centimeters, including its cover.

"The U-ditch that we installed is much sturdier than before," he expressed, Tuesday (1/16).

According to him, the work takes a while because the excavation is done manually and the personnel have to be extra careful considering that there are many walls and fences of residents' houses on either side. Then the road access is also narrow so the supply of materials to the location is somewhat hampered.

The work involved six personnel assisted by PPSU and locals

"It is targeted for completion in two to three weeks ahead," he expressed.

Baru Urban Village Head, Ambar Gumilar added his side had coordinated with locals to temporarily close road access at the location in order to smoothen the work.

"We've also deployed six personnel of PPSU to help complete the work," he stated.

RT 02/07 Baru Urban Village Chairman, Sigit Prabowo, appreciated the quick response from the SDA Task Force and sub-district to repair the channel.

"Thank you for the quick response to dealing with this pumbling problem," he said.
