Jakarta Provincial Government finalizes the motorcycle ban passing expansion area to Jalan Sudirman. Besides preparing alternative roads and public transportation, the government also plans to hold a public hearing with the affected community with the policy.

Jakarta Traffic Engineering Head of Transportation Department (Dishubtrans), Masdes Arrofi uttered, the expansion plans got a good response from Jakarta Governor.

"He (Governor) provides a target for implement this plan at the end of the year. In principle, he responded well by reporting our evaluations result," he explained, Sunday (4/12).

Arrofi told, the ban passing lines will be extended from Bundaran Hotel Indonesia, Semanggi, Metro Jaya Police, Ratu Plaza until Bundaran Senayan.

"We still study all aspects to realize the plan," he explained.

According to him, the main thing that needs to be prepared is to increase the number of Transjakarta bus fleet.

"Currently, Transjakarta bus fleet and City Tour are only enough to service the route from Bundaran HI until Medan Merdeka Barat. The bus should travel back and forth for 6 km. If the route extended to Senayan, the distance will become 16 km," he explained.

Moreover, Arrofi continued, his side still identifying the routes that can be used by the motorist.

"We still study the route that possible to become alternative routes while we are waiting the new bus," he revealed.

He pointed out, one road that enable to be used as alternative road is Jalan Asia Afrika Senayan where the motorist can access the lane leading to Jalan Ge lora and continue to Jalan Pal Merah, West Jakarta.

"But, we must survey and prepare it first, we also need monitor the area free from street vendors and illegal parking or not," he continued

Arrofi added, before the expansion of motorcycle ban started, he will hold public hearing involving a motorcycle users community, motor taxi, and the courier who directly affected by this regulation.

"We will hold the public hearing to invite the road user to participate in this regulation since beginning," he told.
