SCADA at Pulomas 2 Pump House Assists Water Debit Management

The using of Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system at Pulomas 2 Pump House in Ria Rio Reservoir, Kayu Putih, Pulogadung, East Jakarta, is effective to manage water debit and anticipate inundation.

East Jakarta Water Resources' Section of Facility Management Head, Ihkwan Maulani, explained it only uses computer or handphone to operate the pump trough SCADA system.

He added that the system also tells whether any error on the pump or not.
"The pumps capacity are 1,000 lite per second by one unit and 2,250 liter per second by two units," he added.
Ikhwan explained that this pump house is functioned to pump water in Ria Rio Reservoir to Sunter River through jacking system which lays under Jalan Raya Perintis Kemerdekaan. The water enters Ria Rio Reservoir comes from IKIP, Pulo nangka Barat and Pulomas Barat connecting channels.
"The three pumps will be operated when the water debit is above 0," he explained.
The pump house is also equipped with rotary screen to lift garbage automatically. It means the water being pumped to Sunter River will be free from garbage.
Meanwhile, Kayu Putih Urban Village, Tuti Sugihastuti, admitted the pump house eliminates inundation at RT 02/06.
Moreover, the inundation in RW 09 area is now declining from 50-100 cm to 20 cm only.
"The inundation also quickly to recede," she stated.
