Revitalization of the Pekayon Embung (Artificial Lake) and Kaja Reservoir will be a priority scale for the East Jakarta Water Resources Sub-agency (SDA)'s work program this year.

Drainage Development and Improvement Section Head, Tengku Saugi Zikri explained the revitalization of the Pekayon Embung this year is the second stage, continuing work at the end of 2023, namely the construction of sheet pile walls around the Embung as long as 750 meters with a height of 2.5 meters. There is a fishing area or cantilever at six points. The sheet pile is built using grass box material, which is installed at an angle on the banks of the Embung.
"The work will still be the same in the second stage. That is building the unfinished perimeter sheet pile and other work," he expressed, Tuesday (2/20).

"Jogging track will be built in stage. Last year, it was built on the west side for 200 meters using stamp concrete material," he explained.
Then this year, personnel would also revitalize the Kaja Reservoir, Ciracas.
This reservoir was built in 2018 by the Jakarta SDA Agency. The work has a naturalized concept, where the sheet pile construction does not use concrete but river stone. The cliff was planted with grass and trees on top.
Its management was handed over to the East Jakarta SDA Sub-agency in January 2021. Besides preventing flooding, it also functions as a green open space (RTH), which is planted with various types of protective and productive trees and is equipped with a jogging track area.
Pekayon Urban Village Head, Mesrarianita added since the existence of the Pekayon Embung, several locations in his area are no longer flooded when it rains, such as RT 08, 09, and 12/RW 02, as well as RT 10/03.
"Surely, its existence helps overcome flooding in the surrounding environment," she closed.
