Water Channel Construction on Jalan Bougenville Reaches 90 Percent

Progress of the water channel construction located on Jalan Bougenville, RT 03/03, Untung Jawa Island Urban Village, South Seribu Islands Sub-district, Seribu Islands has touched 90 percent. The work has been ongoing since January 2024 and is targeted for completion by the end of February 2024.

It aims to minimize inundation when heavy rain occurs

Untung Jawa Island Urban Village Water Resources (SDA) Coordinator, Mahiar said the total length of the channel being built reached 350 meters with a depth of 1.4 meters and a width of one meter.

This channel from Jalan Bougainville would later be built to Taman Sakura Beach to channel water from land to sea.

"It aims to minimize inundation when heavy rain occurs," he expressed, Tuesday (2/20).

He explained it was made using six inches of paralon material which was connected to the drainage control tank for easy monitoring and cleaning.

"It involves ten PPSU personnel. Hopefully, it can effectively prevent inundation," he explained.

Untung Jawa Urban Village Head, Sidartawan uttered the proposal to build a more representative channel was submitted to the Seribu Islands SDA Sub-agency.

"We don't want any puddles to disturb the activities and comfort of tourists and residents," he stated.
