City to Relocate Agate Traders in Tanah Abang

The number of agate traders on Jalan Fachrudin, Jatibaru, Tanah Abang, Central Jakarta causing traffic congestion at the area. The Residents hoped the government could find the location for the traders to avoid other social problems.

Based on beritajakarta.com data, hundreds traders were seen line up on the road towards Tanah Abang Station. The buyers also stopped their vehicle at the roadside to see the agate in that place. 

"The pedestrian were disturbed by their existence. We hoped the government could find other market location to facilitate them so they no need to sell at the pedestrian path like this anymore," told Riski (38), a Kebon Melati resident, Monday (3/14).

Agate Peddlers in Jatinegara will Be Controlled

Related to that, the PD Pasar Jaya Public Relation, Agus Lamun said, his side still studying the possible places to be used as a relocation place. According to him, the deserted market conditions will become priority place for the traders.

"We still preparing the plan, maybe we will apply thematic market as the concept. It's also to increase the number of citizens who come into the market," he explained.

Currently, Agus told, some of agate traders also been relocated to Pasar Jaya Blok M and Pasar Jaya Rawabadak. Moreover, Rawabening Market was not able to accommodate the agate traders.

"Therefore, we still studying a number of markets that we can use as the agate traders relocation place, so the market will be flocked by the visitors because the agate still popular everywhere currently " he uttered.
