BPBD: Jakarta Coastal Residents must Be Alert to Rob

The Jakarta Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) warned residents who live in coastal areas to be alert to sea water overflows or tidal waves, which are predicted to occur from February 19 to 23, 2024.

The maximum tide peaks at 6 AM to 10 AM

Jakarta BPBD Executing Unit Head, Isnawa Adji said the new moon phase (full moon) phenomenon has the potential to increase the maximum sea tide height in the form of coastal flooding (rob) in the northern coastal area of Jakarta.

"BMKG's Tanjung Priok Maritime Class I Meteorological Station provides an early warning for coastal flooding from February 19 to 23, 2024. We urge residents to be alert," he expressed, Wednesday (2/21).

BPBD: Emergency Call 112 Still Accessible

According to him, the maximum tide of sea water that has the potential to cause tidal waves will likely occur in coastal areas north of Jakarta, such as Kamal Muara, Kapuk Muara, Penjaringan, Pluit, Ancol, Kamal, Marunda, Cilincing, and Kalibaru.

"The maximum tide peaks at 6 AM to 10 AM," he expressed.

BPBD urges residents to continue monitoring the latest information regarding sea waves on the pages bpbd.jakarta.go.id/gelombanglaut or pantaubanjir.jakarta.go.id and download the Preparedness Guidebook tiny.cc/bukusakusiagabanjir.

"If you encounter an emergency that requires help, immediately contact the Jakarta Siaga Emergency Call 112," he stated.
