Heru: Cheap Market to Suppress Panic Buying Ahead of Ramadan

Ahead of Ramadan month, Jakarta Provincial Government makes sure the staple foods stock are ready. Cheap staple food program keeps being run to fulfill resident needs.

The program is held to ease residents getting cheaper staple food

Acting Jakarta Governor Heru Budi Hartono, explained cheap staple food program will remain be held in Jakarta areas to ease residents getting affordable staple food.

The program is being intensified to avoid panic attack ahead of fasting month.

Duri Pulo Residents Flock Cheap Staple Food Market

"The program is held to ease residents getting cheaper staple food. Also to avoid panic buying since the stock in Jakarta is safe," Heru said during his visit at cheap staple food program in Kebayoran Lama Sub-district, South Jakarta, Thursday (2/29).

The program is also held to manage regional inflation.

"Not only helping the residents, but also to stabilize regional inflation," Heru added as quoted from Jakarta Provincial Government's press release.

Meanwhile, Jakarta Food Tenacity, Maritime and Agriculture Head, Suharini Eliawati, admitted her side cooperated with Bank Tabungan Negara (BTN) to provide 2,000 staple food packages today.

"The package is sold Rp 100,000. It consists five kilograms of rice, two liters of cooking oil, one kilogram of sugar, and 1 kilogram of flour," she stated.

She continued that Jakarta Regional Owned Enterprise, Perumda Pasar Jaya, provides the staple food packages. The company also provides instant noodle package to be sold Rp 10,000 for seven packs.

"Perumda Dharma Jaya also prepared animal protein products such as egg, chicken, meat, squid, and so on," she closed.
