South Jakarta - PAM Jaya Promotes Piped Drinking Water Connections

The South Jakarta administration Government together with Perumda PAM Jaya, held a Socialization on Piped Drinking Water Connections. The socialization was attended by 75 representative participants from urban villages and sub-districts throughout South Jakarta.

South Jakarta Administration Secretary, Ali Murthadho expressed this socialization was important, thus the community could use the Perumda PAM Jaya pipe network to meet their clean water needs.
"Currently, many people still use ground water. In fact, it can cause land subsidence," he expressed, in the Main Gelatik Meeting Room, South Jakarta Mayor's Office, Monday (3/4).
Clean Water and Piped Drinking Services in Jakarta Optimistic to Reach 100 Percent in 2030He hoped that the socialization participants could act as agents of change in terms of reducing groundwater use. Hence, synergy was needed with all levels of society to expedite and make the provision of piped drinking water a success for all residents of South Jakarta.
"One of the Perumda PAM Jaya's mandatory tasks is to provide services through pipe connections to the community up to 100 percent by 2030. It is also one of Jakarta's plans as a Global City," he explained.
Perumda PAM Jaya Service Director, Syahrul Hasan added the company received an assignment from the Jakarta Provincial Government to provide piped water supply with a target of 100 percent from 2022.
"So, we must be able to serve residents one hundred percent. Currently, Perumda PAM Jaya's service coverage is only 67 percent and is dominated in the West Jakarta and North Jakarta areas," he explained.
In South Jakarta, socialization and extra work was still needed, thus more people would not use groundwater and could switch to piped connections.
"We want that when there is a connection to the pipe connection, everyone can use it immediately. We're still on the right track preparing the installation which is still under construction. Insya Allah, it will be finished next year," he said.
