F-16 Fighter Jet Burnt in Halim Perdana Kusuma Airport

A F-16 fighter jet type TS-1643 belongs to Air Force Army (TNI AU) was burnt in the Halim Perdanakusuma Airport after the pilot failed to take off, Thursday (4/16), around 8.20 AM. Fortunately, a pilot, Lt. Col. Firman Dwi Cahyono survived after pulling the lever of chair thrower when the jet burnt.

Based on the information gathered, the jet is burnt on runway (06 towards 24 near Lama Post). The left wheel of the jet instantly dislodged when the plane took off and cause its engine burnt. The pilot managed to save his life from the incident, but he had burns on his body. Then he immediately rushed to local hospital

"The burned jet with tail number 1643 has been pulled to hangar," said Head of Information Department for Air Force Army, Marsekal Pertama Hadi Tjahjanto.

As for the information, the jet planned to carry out the Fly Pass mission from Army beret on President Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo's head at the Cilangkap Army headquarters on Thursday afternoon. It is done with route Halim Perdana Kusuma Airport-Hankam Army Headquarters and back to the airport. 

The mission was done along with 3 other F-16 jets, namely F-16 TS-1606/, F-16 TS-1608 and F-16 TS-1610. Reportedly, the jet type F-16 TS-1643 would be used for securing Asia-Africa Summit in Jakarta and Bandung in the upcoming April 19-24.
