Teachers Must Continue to Advance Education, W. Jakarta Mayor Says

West Jakarta Mayor, Uus Kuswanto, encouraged teachers and teaching staff to continuously advance the world of education in a bid to create the nation's next generation who can compete and have good morals in the era of globalization and rapidly developing technology.

The statement above was stated when he led the National Education Day (Hardiknas) ceremony in the field of the West Jakarta Mayor's office on Thursday (5/2).

"The last five years have been very impressive in the journey at the Ministry of Education and Culture. Being the leader of the independent learning movement has made me increasingly aware of the challenges and opportunities we have to advance Indonesian education," he expressed, while reading the mandate of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology Minister, Nadiem Anwar Makarim.

He explained that it is not an easy thing to transform a very large system and it is also not a simple task to change the perspective on the learning process because making changes requires struggle because discomfort accompanies every step towards improvement and progress.

Moreover, the current Indonesian children dare to dream because they feel free when studying in class, including teachers who try new things because they have the confidence to know and assess their students.

"So, the government entrusts the Merdeka Belajar program to all those driving change who do not know the word give up to take Indonesia to leap into the future. Happy National Education Day. Let's continue to work together to enliven and continue the movement for free learning," he closed.
