South Jakarta Vice Mayor, Edi Sumantri opened Jakarta Street Jazz Festival (JSJF) 2024 at Blok M, Jalan Falatehan, Melawai Urban Village, Kebayoran Baru Sub-district.

Hopefully jazz music can continue to exist

Edi said that music is a global language as a form of conveying feelings of situations and circumstances that are depicted imaginatively.

"Music also doesn't see any differences. One of them is jazz music, it relaxes and touches the soul," he said, Sunday (5/5).

Edi explained that music performance activities provide space for business actors, micro, small and medium (MSMEs) to promote and sell their business products.

"Without realizing it, this activity can improve the economy in South Jakarta. I appreciate the implementation of the Jakarta Street Jazz Festival," he added.

He hopes that JSJF can become a permanent annual agenda so that it can become an attraction for local and foreign tourists.

"This activity is also a gathering place for musicians, especially jazz. Hopefully jazz music can continue to exist," he continued.

Meanwhile, Jakarta Street Jazz Festival 2024 Organizer Chairman, Andi Anita Sutphin, stated this activity provides a space for jazz musicians to work while providing entertainment for the community on weekends.

"This music stage offers a different concept in the form of performances from the roadside or public areas to entertain the public directly," he stated.

According to him, the implementation of JSJF in 2024 is inspired by the jazz musician scene in the United States who often performs from various public spaces to the side of the road.

"We tried to package it on a larger and more festive scale. The public can watch JSJF for free from 6 AM to 4 PM," he closed.
