Jakarta Transportation Agency held focus group discussion (FGD) about development of traffic demand management policies at Milenium Hotel, Tanah Abang, Central Jakarta, Wednesday (5/8).

The program which was opened by Regional Secretary Joko Agus Setyono, was participated by dozens of participants from transportation business associations, parking managers, academics, shopping center managers, non-governmental organizations and representatives of the central government.

Joko hoped the implementation of this FGD can provide input and solutions for traffic management policies, in order to overcome congestion in Jakarta.

"We hope this FGD will be able to solve traffic management in Jakarta," he said.

Joko admitted Jakarta Provincial Government has disbursed a large budget to make various efforts to overcome transportation management problems. Therefore, it is hoped that the formulation of the FGD can produce effective and efficient solutions.

Jakarta Transportation Agency Head, Syafrin Liputo, explained this FGD discussed about various efforts to overcome congestion with transportation management. In the FGD activity, discussion emerged regarding the discourse on electronic vehicle restrictions.

Then it also discussed about discourse on regulations regarding age restrictions and public ownership of private vehicles. Apart from that, parking management options with high rates were also discussed to limit the use of private vehicles so that people switch to using public transportation modes.

"I hope the result will give corrective suggestion. Then we'll formulate it into regulation draft which is inline with Act No 2/2024," he stated.
