The Jakarta Culture Agency (Disbud) held the Ondel-Ondel and Palang Pintu Festival at Keong Mas Theater, Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII), East Jakarta, on Saturday (6/28), featuring dozens of art studios under the agency's management.

Head of Cultural Development at Jakarta Culture Agency, Puspla Dirdjaja, explained that the one-day festival is part of the Jakarta's 498th Anniversary celebration.

Puspla noted that participants in the Ondel-Ondel Festival were came from 35 art studios across Jakarta. Each group presented a pair of Ondel-Ondel performers who put on a show at Keong Mas Theater.
The event continued with performances by 20 Palang Pintu groups from 20 art studios under the management of the Culture Agency. After the main performances, all participants paraded around TMII area.
Puspla expects that the event will not only entertain but also help preserve and promote Betawi culture to the public.
"We hope this event will brings Betawi culture closer to the younger generation," he conveyed.
