Jakarta Coastal Residents Urged to Be Aware of Tidal Wave

The Jakarta Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) asked residents who live in coastal areas to be alert for coastal flooding or tidal flooding from May 21 to 29, 2024.

Maximum Tide Peak is from 8 PM to 11 PM,

Jakarta BPBD Head, Isnawa Adji said BMKG's Tanjung Priok Maritime Class I Meteorological Station regarding Early Warning for Coastal Floods (Rob) informed that the phenomenon of maximum sea water tides coinciding with the Full Moon phase has the potential to increase the maximum sea water height in the form of coastal floods or robs in the northern coastal area of Jakarta.

"Maximum Tide Peak is from 8 PM to 11 PM," he expressed, Monday (5/20).

According to him, residents of the northern coastal areas of Jakarta such as Kamal Muara, Kapuk Muara, Penjaringan, Pluit, Ancol, Kamal, Marunda, Cilincing, and Kalibaru were urged to anticipate the impact of maximum tides of sea water which have the potential to cause coastal flooding.

Therefore, the public can monitor the latest information regarding sea waves on the page bpbd.jakarta.go.id/gelombanglaut.

"If you encounter an emergency that requires help, immediately contact the Jakarta Siaga 112 Call Center," he stated.
