Dinkes Shares Tips for Healthy Ears

The Jakarta Health Agency (Dinkes) shares tips for maintaining ear health.

It is recommended to use personal protective equipment (PPE)

Based on the results of the Indonesian Health Survey (SKI) 2023, it is recorded that the prevalence of hearing disability in residents aged 1 year and over in Jakarta is recorded at 0.3 percent.

If it is seen at the causes of disability, the largest proportion is caused by disease and other causes such as accidents/injuries and congenital abnormalities.

Dinkes Calls for Rotavirus Immunization for Newborns

Jakarta Dinkes Head, Ani Ruspitawati said that to maintain ear health, people are asked to avoid long-term exposure to noise.

"It is recommended to use personal protective equipment (PPE) specifically for ears such as ear muffs or ear plugs when carrying out risky work such as working in noisy places (factories, etc) to protect the ears from exposure to excessive noise," he expressed, Friday (6/7).

Aside that, society needs to implement 60:60 behavior. It means that when using earphones/headphones, use a volume of 60 percent of the maximum volume of the device used. Then it is recommended to rest after use for 60 minutes.

He also urged the public to carry out regular ear checks at health service facilities.

"Clean your ears only on the outside and do not pick your ears with any objects. Immediately seek treatment if a cough, cold is accompanied by ear pain or there are problems in the ear, such as a feeling of fullness, lack of hearing, discharge, foreign objects or animals entering," he stated.
