DPRD: Melawai Residents' Aspirations must Be Followed Up Immediately

The Jakarta Legislative Council (DPRD) instructs the South Jakarta administration to immediately follow up on the aspirations of the residents of RW 01, Jalan Wijaya VI, Melawai Urban Village, Kebayoran Baru Sub-district.

Residents complained about several residential houses on Jalan Wijaya VI, which were allegedly converted into cafes, causing traffic jams and noise.

Jakarta DPRD Chairman, Prasetyo Edi Marsudi said the people's representatives again accepted the aspirations of the residents of RW 01 Melawai, Kebayoran Baru who complained that the residences on Jalan Wijaya VI had been converted into cafe businesses, as had happened in several residential areas in South Jakarta such as Jalan Tulodong and Jalan Senopati.

"Thereby, the council wants the City Secretary and South Jakarta Mayor to strictly enforce applicable building designation regulations," he expressed, Wednesday (6/12).

He urged urban village apparatus to come down and talk to residents who wanted to build buildings for residences or business premises.

"If the building being built is a business premises, will it cause impacts such as smoke, traffic jams, and so on for residential areas in the surrounding areas. It has also been regulated following bylaws in force in Jakarta," he explained.

His party would oversee the follow-up to residents' aspirations living at Jalan Wijaya RW 01 Melawai which had been voiced through an audience with people's representatives at the city council building.

"We have given a deadline. Next week, there will be a report because they are residents represented in the Jakarta DPRD," he added.

RW 01 Melawai Urban Village Chairman, Nizarman Aminuddin uttered residents came to the city council building building to convey complaints about the existence of a cafe in the residential area on ​​Jalan Wijaya VI.

"We've reported this problem in stages starting from the urban village and sub-district levels. Five meetings have been held, but no action has been taken," he explained.

Around the residential area on Jalan Wijaya VI, four cafes and a travel car storage area are reportedly operating. This condition causes noise at night and traffic jams.

"We, who have lived here for decades, are disturbed by their presence, so today we came to the city council building to ask for help in solving the problem," he said.
