The International Relations Student Association (Himahi) located at Budi Luhur University (UBL) held ASEAN+ Youth Environmental Action (AYEA) 2024 on June 27-30, 2024.

It is part of the commitment to involve youth in efforts to protect the environment and mitigate climate change.

Budi Luhur University Rector, Agus Setyo Budi expressed it was real proof that the campus or the younger generation cared about the environment.
"Climate change can cause losses if it is not anticipated. That's why, I hope that the younger generation who are the holders of the future will act and behave, and encourage people to care about the sustainability of the environmental ecosystem," he explained.
Budi Luhur University's Himahi Chairwoman, Brigita Nofensa Rosi Tomigolung uttered that environmental issues and climate change were global concerns. Therefore, there was a need for real collaboration with young people from various countries.
She explained this activity also involved 60 students from 20 countries, NGOs (Non-Governmental Organizations), politicians, business people, volunteers, and high school students of the same level.
"AYEA 2024 is designed with interesting activities over four days. These activities include environmental dialogue, focus group discussions (FGD) and plenary, environmental photography competitions and discussions, debate competitions, coloring and painting competitions, culinary creation competitions, climate music festivals, environmental campaigns, and exhibition stands," she explained.
She added the highlight of the event would be a lively Awarding Night, and would close with the planting of 6,000 trees as a form of real environmental mitigation action that would be carried out in Baduy Luar.
