Fire Volunteer Training Held in Gunung Urban Village

Tens of Gunung Urban Village resident, Kebayoran Baru Sub-district, participated fire volunteer training held by South Jakarta Fire Handling and Rescue Sub-agency at Gunung Urban Village office.

Gunung Urban Village Fire Handling and Rescue Taskforce Head, Nurul Komar, said the participants took part in training in the form of early general fire prevention, such as how to use a light fire extinguisher (APAR) and the use of basic equipment to extinguish fires around them.
"We give them a basic understanding of the use of APARs, starting from opening and extinguishing fire techniques with APARs, to extinguishing fires with makeshift tools such as sacks or wet cloth," he said, Monday (7/1).
Jakarta Fire Burns Electronic Shop in Kramat JatiKomar explained that apart from providing fire extinguishing techniques, his party also provides education regarding APAR ownership in residential areas, especially for residents who own businesses.
Komar added with this fire extinguishing training which was attended by 30 volunteers, it is hoped that they will be at the forefront in providing fire education to residents and extinguishing fires early on in their environment.
"Hopefully this knowledge will be spread in their environments, so that they can make time efficient in the process of extinguishing fires early on," he added.
One of participants, Slamet (51), admitted happy to participate the program. He said that the participants also get member card to get free fire extinguisher.
"I always participate the training every year due to the trauma of a large fire in the residential area," he admitted.
