Creative City Development FGD Held by Parekraf Agency

Jakarta Tourism and Creative Economy Agency held Focus Group Discussion (FGD) to discuss about Creative City and Regency Development.

Jakarta Tourism and Creative Economy Agency's Data, Information, and Destination Development Head, Hari Wibowo, said this activity, which presents resource persons and participants from government elements and creative economy actors, aims to map and evaluate the creative economy potential throughout the Jakarta area.

"Through this forum we try to explore, evaluate and develop potential strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and challenges for developing the creative economy in Jakarta," he said, Wednesday (7/3).

The FGD presented a number of resource persons who are experts in their fields, such as Elizabeth Tioria Gurning (Deputy Policy Analyst for Destination and Infrastructure Development, Directorate of Creative Economy Infrastructure, Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, Republic of Indonesia).

Then, Yuliana Rini Dwi Yuliandari (Creative Regency/City Program Expert Team and PMK3I, Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, Republic of Indonesia), and Ravita Datau (Founder & Chair of the Indonesian Gastronomy Network).

During her presentation, Elizabeth Tioria Gurning discussing the objectives and progress of the Indonesian Creative Regency/City Self-Assessment Program (PMK3I). This program aims to map and identify potential creative economy subsectors that are able to stimulate the local ecosystem.

Then, Vita Datau explained the 4P (People, Place, Partnership, Prosperity) approach which focuses on activating creative partnerships and increasing local prosperity, while learning from the experiences of successful and failed creative cities in the world.

Meanwhile, Yuliana Rini Dwi Yuliandari provided insight into the evaluation and self-assessment process used to identify the main creative subsectors in various regions.

"Discussions become more interesting during interactive sessions," he added.

In the interactive session, Hari explained, issues that emerged were regarding the effectiveness of the Regency or Creative City program and the role of coordination at the provincial level, holistic government support, and synergy between stakeholders.

"Hopefully participants can use the knowledge and strategies they have gained, in order to optimize the creative potential in their respective regions," he hoped.

According to Hari, the results of this FGD will be used as a reference for formulating creative economy development policies in each district and city.

"We are committed to continuing to facilitate and support the implementation of creative district and city development programs, while supporting Jakarta's vision of becoming a competitive global city," he stated.
