City Secretary: Jakarta's Transformation Requires Shared Views of All Parties

The Jakarta Provincial Government appreciates the Home Ministry (Kemendagri) and all parties involved in every joint discussion with the DPR until Law Number 2/2024 on the Provincial Government of the Special Region of Jakarta was passed on April 25, 2024.

According to him, Jakarta is currently being transformed from a National Capital to a Global Business City. He assessed, Jakarta, following the enactment of the Presidential Decree as stated in Law Number 2/2024, would function as part of the main node of the world economic network which would have a direct and real impact at the global level.

He went on to say that Law Number 2/2024 on Jakarta provides greater scope for special authority than before (Law Number 29/2007).

He believed it was proof of the support and seriousness of the DPR together with the Government to redesign various aspects that require optimization along with the increasing role and dynamics of complex development in Jakarta.

"Including government relations within the Jabodetabekpunjur area through an agglomeration area format which requires synergy with the West Java and Banten Provincial Governments as well as Regencies and Cities within the Jabodetabekpunjur area," he explained.

Then the implementation of Jakarta's transformation in the future requires a common view from all levels of the Jakarta Government and support from various parties, both from the community, related stakeholders, the central government, and regional governments supporting Jakarta.

He urged all levels of the Jakarta Government to use the relocation of the capital city as a momentum to improve by prioritizing the principles of a pandemic-proof city, a crisis-resilient city, and a city that implements digitalization (digitally advanced city) and sustainable and livable cities.

He hoped that this working meeting could provide a comprehensive understanding of Law Number 2/2024 to all levels of the Jakarta Government and BUMD as well as the community, as well as aligning the vision and strengthening the synergy of various parties to make the City of Jakarta a strong, livable, and competitive business city. high and on par with other global cities," he explained.
