200 Cats of Two Sub-districts in South Jakarta Sterilized

South Jakarta Food Security, Maritime and Agriculture Sub-agency held free cat sterilization at Nyi Ageng Serang Building, Jalan HR Rasuna Said, Karet Kuningan Urban Village, Setiabudi Sub-district. As many as 200 cats from Setiabudi and Tebet Sub-districts were sterilized.

South Jakarta Food Security, Maritime and Agriculture Sub-agency Head, Hasudungan A Sidabalok, the implementation of cat sterilization was realized through collaboration with the Indonesian Veterinary Association and several other sponsors.

"We need to handle cat population, especially in South Jakarta," he said, Thursday (7/18).

Hasudungan added the program was also held to maintain Jakarta as free of rabies area.

"Jakarta is already free of rabies since 2004," he added.

According to him, 400 cats in South Jakarta have been sterilized by using non-regional budget this year.

"The program is to be continued until we reach 1,000 cats this year," he continued.

Setiabudi Sub-district Head, Iswahyudi, appreciate the sub-agency in handling the cat population.

"I appeal the residents to bring their cats to program like this since cat population is fast," he stated.

Meanwhile, one of cat owners, Caca (22), admitted has participated the program, twice.

"I knew this program from sub-agency's Instagram account. Hopefully the quote can be added up," she admitted.
