Animal Husbandry and Health Section Head, Irawati Hary Atharini said the sterilization was held at the Beringin RPTRA, Jalan Hajah Sa'amah, Jagakarsa Urban Village.

"It aims to control the wild cat population and keep Jakarta rabies-free," she expressed, Friday (7/12).

To smoothen it, her party collaborated with Radhiyan Pet Care and Perumda Pasar Jaya, as well as the Sehati Cat Lover Community to search for and pick up the wild cat.

"We use the Trap Neuter Return (TNR) method. This means that we reach the cat, then undergo a sterilization process and return it to its original location," she explained.

She added it would continue to be done by reaching other areas in South Jakarta.

"In the future, we'll also target other markets and residential areas where there are lots of wild cats," she added.

The action received appreciation from Jagakarsa Urban Village Head, Muhammad Hasan.

"We want the cat population to be controlled so that residents don't worry," he stressed.

Therefore, he urged residents who have cats or animals that transmit rabies must be responsible for their pets, at least immediately sterilizing them or vaccinating them for rabies.

"If the cat is healthy, the owner will be healthy too. So, the owner must care about his animal," he closed.
