17 Firetrucks Extinguish Fire at SDN Pondok Bambu 01

As many as 17 firetrucks with 85 personnel of East Jakarta Fire Handling and Rescue Sub-agency, extinguished fire at SDN Pondok Bambu 01 Pagi, Jalan Gading II RT 05/11 Pondok Bambu, Duren Sawit, Tuesday (7/23).

It is allegedly caused by electrical short circuit

East Jakarta Fire Handling and Rescue Sub-agency's Operation Section Head, Abdul Wahid, explained fire occurred in the warehouse where the drumband equipment was stored at around 12:04 PM. The hot sun and strong gusts of wind made the fire quickly burned down 18 classrooms at once.

Assistance Given to Fire Survivors in Pondok Kelapa

"It is allegedly caused by electrical short circuit," Wahid explained.

Wahid added that students of the school were directly evacuated to outside of the school. Local residents together with school administrators tried to extinguish the fire, but failed.

"Finally the fire was extinguished in one hour. There is no victims caused by this incident," he added.

RW 11 Pondok Bambu Head, Joko Nartono, stated local residents tried to extinguish the fire. But their effort was not successful.

"Thanks to the firefighter personnel for quickly responding this incident," he admitted.
