Nutritious PMT on Kelapa Island Effectively Minimizes Toddlers Indicated of Stunting

Providing nutritious additional food (PMT) in Kelapa Island Urban Village, North Seribu Islands Sub-district, Seribu Islands has effectively reduced the number of toddlers indicated as stunting.

They will be given similar nutritious food

Kelapa Island Urban Village Head, Muslim said cooperation for nutritious PMT was conducted with Pertamina Hulu Energi Offshore South East Sumatra (PHE OSES) through the Seribu Asa program (Save Stunting and Malnutrition with Pertamina).

"Through the intervention of the Seribu Asa program, Alhamdulillah (thank God), the number of stunted toddlers in our area has decreased by 56 percent, from 39 children to 17. We'll continue the Seribu Asa program until we achieve zero stunting," he expressed, Tuesday (8/6).

With this program, he explained, the Posyandu, PKK, and urban village officials held nutritious PMT five times a week with a menu recommended by the North Seribu Islands Health Center nutritionist.

"This nutritious PMT includes rice, side dishes (vegetable and animal protein), vegetables and fruit to additional foods in the form of snacks, optigrow milk (height enhancer), and vitamins," he explained.

This year, the first thousand days of life will also be socialized, targeting 50 pregnant women and prospective brides.

"They will be given similar nutritious food," he explained.

He expressed his appreciation and thanks to PHE OSES who continues to participate in reducing the stunting rate in Kelapa Island Urban Village.

"Hopefully, it can form a healthy and intelligent future generation," he added.

PT Pertamina EP Regional 2 Jawa President Director, Wisnu Hindadari added the Seribu Asa program is a form of PHE OSES' commitment to help the government reduce stunting rates, especially in Seribu Islands.

"We work together to optimize development and adequate nutrition for children. Hopefully, there will be no more stunting in Seribu Islands," he closed.
