Ahmad Yani Appointed as Temporary City Council 2024-2029 Chairman

The swearing-in of the Jakarta City Council for the 2024-2029 period was carried out by the Deputy Chairperson of the Jakarta High Court, Artha Theresia and was attended by the Acting Governor of Jakarta, Heru Budi Hartono.

The temporary chairman and deputy chairman of the Jakarta City Council, Ahmad Yani and Jhony Simanjuntak were also appointed during the inauguration ceremony.

Ahmad Yani, after the inauguration, said that his party has the task as the temporary chairman to prepare meetings, facilitate the formation of factions and the formation of the Chairman and Deputy Chairman.

"Next, the interim leadership will prepare a meeting to finalize the rules of procedure including the completeness of the council for the 2024-2029 period. We are targeting the completion of this entire process no later than one month," he said.

Yani added, temporary chairman and deputy chairman is elected from the winning party of the 2024 Election. It means the appointment of chairman and deputy chairman is based on applicable regulation.

"PKS and PDIP factions appointed me and Jhony Simanjuntak," he added.

He hopes that members of the Jakarta City Council for the 2024-2029 period can carry out their mandate as well as possible. Members of the council have been sworn in to work earnestly, honestly and fairly to provide the best service to the community.
