Chandra Kurnia, a Jakarta Judo athlete, won a gold medal in the men's -73kg category at PON XXI Aceh - North Sumatra 2024 which is located at Syiah Kuala University GOR, Banda Aceh, Wednesday (9/11).

Alhamdulillah (thank God), I can prove it today

This victory proves Chandra's hard work and dedication in facing this prestigious competition. Met after his victory, Kurnia expressed his unexpected feelings of happiness.

"I didn't expect it, I feel like the training wasn't in vain, far from my family, from everything, leaving time behind," he said, with sparkling eyes.

He also shared an emotional moment about how he once promised his parents to prove himself.

"I once told my parents that this naughty child would be successful. Alhamdulillah (thank God), I can prove it today," he explained.

He did not forget to give encouragement to his fellow athletes, as well as convey an inspiring message to remain persistent and not give up.

"For other athletes, stay enthusiastic, it's never too late," he added.

Chandra Kurnia's success adds to the gold medal tally for the Jakarta contingent in the Judo sport at PON XXI 2024. His achievements have also inspired other young athletes to continue to fight and pursue their dreams. With this achievement, he has proven that hard work and strong determination can bring brilliant results.
