Jakarta's karate team successfully won two gold medals at PON XXI Aceh - North Sumatra 2024, in a match held at the Multipurpose Building of the State University of Medan, Wednesday (9/18).

The gold medal won by Dewi Nur Wijayanti is quite surprising

Jakarta Karate Team Manager, Esti Puji Lestari said two gold medals were won from the women's team kata event strengthened by Beatrix, Dian Monica, and Emilia Sri, and from the women's kumite +68 kilogram event won by Dewi Nur Wijayanti.

"The gold medal won by Dewi Nur Wijayanti is quite surprising considering that her opponent, Dessyanti Rakawuni from North Sumatra, is a national training athlete and has already collected gold medals at SEA Games and Asian Games," she expressed.

She added what Dewi Nur Wijayanti had achieved was extraordinary because it was her first time participating in PON and she was able to beat senior athletes.

"In total, we have won two gold medals, two silver medals, and three bronze medals from all the matches," she stated.
