Gas Cylinder Leak Causes Fire in Pondok Kelapa

A gas cylinder leak caused the fire in a rented house and a grocery store in Lampiri area, Jalan Laksamana Malahayati, RT 01/05 Pondok Kelapa, Duren Sawit, East Jakarta, Thursday (9/19) early this morning.

We send 50 personnel and 10 fire engines to the scene

East Jakarta Fire and Rescue Sub-agency (Gulkarmat) Head, Muchtar Zakaria said the fire occurred when the residents of the boarding house and grocery store were already fast asleep. Suddenly, sparks emerged from the shop which instantly grew bigger and spread to the building next to it.

"Allegedly, the cause is a leak in the LPG gas cylinder used for cooking," he expressed.

Fire on Jalan Gading Raya I Successfully Extinguished

Resident, Muchtar, tried to put out the fire using the water source closest to the location but he failed. Luckily, personnel immediately arrived at the location so the fire was quickly localized and did not spread further.

"We send 50 personnel and 10 fire engines to the scene," he explained.

Within about an hour after the incident, personnel managed to put out the fire. No fatalities in this incident.

For further investigation, a police line has now been placed around an area of ​​around 100 square meters that was burned.

"This fire case was handled by the Duren Sawit Police Sector," he concluded.
