The Seribu Islands Transportation Sub-agency replaced eight beacons that serve as Navigation Aids (SBNP) for ships in the Seribu Islands waters.

This is very important

Seribu Islands Transportation Sub-agency's Port Development Section Head, Ahyus Wanto said eight malfunctioned beacon lights would be replaced in stages starting September 18, 2024.

"This beacon light is a guide for ship captains or fishermen. Therefore, the existence of this light is important for the safety of fishermen and shipping," he expressed, Friday (9/20).

He detailed, eight new light points had been installed, namely on the west side of Sepa Island; the west side of Gusung Matahari; the west side of Putri Island; and the west side of Karang Halimah Island.

Then on the west side of Karang Congka; the west side of Rosa Island; the north side of Panggang Island; and the west side of Panggang Island.

"There are still three points where we will install beacons, namely one location on the west side of Kayu Island, two points in Pulau Pari Urban Village," he explained.

The action above received appreciation from one of the fishermen from Panggang Island, Fadil (48).

"This is very important, especially when sailing or fishing at night," he explained.

He added it could also minimize the occurrence of accidents because it can help avoid other ships when passing each other.

"We're very grateful and support the maintenance of this beacon. This light is important for our safety and security together," he closed.
