Jakarta's Swimming Grabs Four Gold Medals

Jakarta's Swimming Team achieved a good result by winning four gold medals on the first day of XVII National Paralympic Week (Peparnas) in Solo, Central Java, Monday (10/7).

We're optimistic to exceed the target by five gold medals

The matches were held at Intan Pari Waterpark Pool, Jalan Jendral Gatot Subroto, Beningrejo, Gaum, Tasikmadu Sub-district, Karanganyar Regency, Central Java. Jakarta's Swimming Team grabbed four gold medals through Rafi Syafar in Men's 400m Freestyle S14.

Then Riski Setiawan in the 100 meter Men's Breaststroke S7, Alfendi in the 100 meter Men's Breaststroke S10 and Kristian Julian Vano in the 100 meter Men's Freestyle S10.

Jakarta Contingent Chairman, Rahman Defiandi, hoped it will be a good start for the Jakarta contingents.

"Thanks God we've grabbed four medal golds on the first day," he said.

Jakarta Para Contingent Swimming Coach, Bayu Ciputra Satrio explained, from 99 swimming competition numbers participated, his side sent 37 athletes. Until 1:00 PM today, Jakarta has managed to win four gold, three silver and one bronze.

"We're optimistic to exceed the target by five gold medals," he explained.

He added that his players performed optimally. Thanks to extra support from Jakarta Provincial Government and NPC.

Meanwhile, Alfendi, one of the gold medal winning athletes, admitted this gold is dedicated to his parents, children and wife. He did not expect to win a gold medal since he only won bronze in last Peparnas in Papua.

"I was not sure to win it. But Thanks God for this gift," he admitted.
