Heru Hopes Free Nutritious Meal Fulfills Student's Nutrition Needs as It Firstly Held in High School

After successfully held trial in Elementary and Junior High Schools, Jakarta Provincial Government continues the trial of free nutritious meal in Senior High School. The trial was held at SMAN 70 South Jakarta, Wednesday (10/9).

Acting Jakarta Governor, Heru Budi Hartono, monitored the activity together with elected Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka, accompanied by Perumda Dharma Jaya Director Raditya Endar Budiman and SMAN 70 Headmaster Sunaryo.

"I would like to thank elected Vice President Gibran for taking time to fulfill our invitation. Also thank to Perumda Dharma Jaya for preparing free nutritious meals at SMAN 70. Thanks to school's headmaster and committee," Heru said, as quoted from Jakarta Provincial Government's press release.

A total of 1,300 food packages worth Rp25,000 per portion were prepared by Perumda Dharma Jaya in collaboration with PT Jakarta Tourisindo. The food packages contain white rice, chicken teriyaki, potato croquettes, salted chili tofu, omelettes, vegetable salad, and bananas with a nutritional content of 781 Kcal. The food is packaged using food grade paper boxes and waste management in synergy with the nearest waste bank, namely the Seni Baru Waste Bank Community.

Heru hopes the trial can be continued by serving menus liked by elementary, junior and high school students. Heru also ensures nutritional value is guaranteed since the calories have been calculated and went through food health test by Jakarta Health Agency.

"Jakarta Provincial Government will continue the trial while waiting for general guidelines from the Central Government. It is aimed to see which menus are liked by students and adjust the package price. We are trying to give our best to realize this program as well as preparing Gold Generation of Indonesia in 2045," Heru added.

Meanwhile, elected Vice President, Gibran Rakabuming Raka, appreciated the Jakarta Provincial Government under Acting Governor Heru Budi Hartono who is consistently provide the program. He assessed that the menu served at SMAN 70 was luxurious compared to other regions.

"Thanks to Acting Governor Heru for accompanying in the program trial. Today's menu was luxurious compared to other regions such as in Hambalang, Sentul when we provided similar program there. Students' feedback is also quite good," he said.

Trials must be conducted as often as possible before implementing the program in all school in Indonesia. It is aimed to get input from teachers, students, parents, school committees, and other parties. 

"Together with the elected President, we're still looking for the best formula for the program. It can use central kitchen or small medium enterprises methods. We'll decide it later," he added.
